Welcome From The HPA President
January 2008
Here we are at the beginning of another new year and HPA hopes that everyone’s
holiday season was happy. At the
awards dinner in December there were many new and exciting activities planned
for this 2008 show year. One of the
most exciting is our new website. Thanks to a some of our members generous
donation of time and expertise, this website should help us keep our members
informed of what is happening, make show bills, show information and show
outcomes readily available to anyone who logs on.
We are working with our webmasters to have the 2009 stallion auction on
our own website where it will be much more user friendly.
Our hope in letting all members as well as non-members know not only
about the stallion auction, but our shows, the judges retained for those shows
and our other events, that we can encourage larger participation within the
association and in the shows.
For the 2008 show season our shows will be held at the facilities in
Again to encourage a larger youth participation, youth will show free with one
paid open class All office, stall, and drug fees will still apply as well.
The leadership of our association is asking that all of the members be
proactive in spreading the word about this terrific opportunity for youth with a
yellow horse. So please, help us
spread the word to fellow 4-H’ers and other youth in your area.
The association also discussed and agreed to have a Bi-State Challenge with the
Michigan Palomino Association. The
thought was with the increasing pressures on the state associations, to gain
entries, working with a neighboring state which has been supportive of our HPA
shows made sense. We currently have
a committee working on getting it together. Watch the new website for more news
as the event begin to takes shape. In
addition our hope with this new website is that we will now be able to keep you
updated on dinners, the fundraising auctions held at each of the shows to
further enhance our futurity fund, end of year awards, minutes of our meetings
and what’s happening with our members.
We
hope that you like the new website, the Bi-State Challenge and our show
schedule. We look forward to each
and everyone of you participating not only in these events, but coming out to
the shows and getting to know your fellow horse people.
Happy New Year
Susan Kirts
